And holidays again, New Years: what should we do? ”Let’s go to Jaffna” Quite dangerous after the civil war, but as curious as we are, we took the challenge.

As you can see on the pictures we got to Jaffna by plane. Jaffna is located in the northern part of Sri Lanka, very close to India. As the military bus took us from the airport into the city I took some picture of the situation on the streets.

We rented a house again, this time for 5 people only. After putting our suitcase in the rooms we went for some food. It was damn spicy. My mouth was on fire, oh my god….

Afterwards we went to one of the most famous Hindu temple in Sri Lanka. It was huge…no pictures inside though…

On picture 8-11 you can see the library which wasn’t open because of the holidays, but beautiful building from outside. Picture 12 shows another Hindu temple in the city. As I said there was war recently so of course we discovered lots of bombed buildings. And as it was New Years Eve we expected some fireworks, right? Hmm…not in Jaffna after a war ;-(( everybody would run away if they would hear one bang.
